Clark Magnet Students Win $15,000 in Science Competition
The students explored DNA sequences and partnered with an environmental group to create native plant gardens.
A team of students from Clark Magnet High School are among eight teams to win $15,000 in the Lexus Eco Challenge, a national competition encouraging teens to "start local and then go global."
Led by teacher-adviser Dominique Evans-Bye, the Riptides explored DNA sequences with researchers at Coastal Marine Biolabs and partnered with an environmental group to grow seeds to create native plant gardens in various National Parks.
Projects from Clark Magnet High School have been recognized in the Lexus Eco Challenge ten times since 2007. Two Grand Prize-winning teams in the challenge won $30,000 each.
