Carl Povilaitis Sworn In As Glendale Police Chief
Congratulations to Povilaitis, who started with the Glendale Police Department in 1990 and progressed through the ranks.

Today was a happy day at City of Glendale Police headquarters.

It was standing room only for the swearing in of Police Chief CARL POVILAITIS who started with the Glendale Police Department in 1990 and progressed through the ranks.

He was sworn in by City Manager Yasmin Beers who shares a similar success story of rising to the top spot after many years with the City Of Glendale. Quite inspiring! Here Yasmin is sharing Chief Povilaitis' impressive resume and accomplishments as well as some personal stories and tidbits. I happen to love hearing these, including his favorite hobby, flying, and favorite food, hotdogs and Diet Dr. Pepper. ( You probably won't hear about that in other news stories!)

Our devoted Glendale City Council was unanimous in their support and sincere praise for the Chief.

It was touching to hear the Chief's praise for his mother and her example to him. She was chosen to pin his new badge. She just returned from the Philippines where she was doing volunteer work and has had a lifetime of going around the world helping others. The desire to SERVE is also at the heart of what her son Carl brings to his position. He said it's not a "job" but a CALLING. His goal is to provide SAFETY to the community and to do it with compassion. Glendale has a GOOD man here!

It was a wonderful ceremony! Toward the end we could smell something delicious! The back of the room was set up with trays of food from PHOENICIA RESTAURANT, specializing in authentic Lebanese cuisine.

Yum!

There were also several amazing cakes!

So many people from all walks of the community were there including ROBIN GOLDSWORTHY (left) the Publisher of our beloved hometown paper THE CRESCENTA VALLEY WEEKLY and Glendale Councilwoman PAULA DEVINE (right) who always lights up a room.

It was nice to run into Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian (right) who gave a meaningful invocation at the ceremony.

My husband Dale and I were honored to be there representing the
