Crescenta Valley Duo Makes Sure SGV All-Stars End World Series Run on High Note
San Gabriel Valley blanks defending champs in final game of pool play.

The San Gabriel Valley Babe Ruth 16-18 All-Stars won't return to the Southland with any hardware, but they made sure to end their run in the Babe Ruth World Series on a positive note, nonetheless.
In its final game of pool play, SGV shutout defending champion Mobile, Ala., 3-0 at Johnson-O’Brien Stadium in Ephrata Wash., behind the play of two Crescenta Valley stars.
Troy Mulcahey went 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored, while pitcher Elliott Surrey struck out four and gave up five hits for the shutout.

San Gabriel Valley scored all three of its runs in the second inning thanks to three hits and a Mobile error.
SGV finished the World Series with a record of 1-3. A loss to Ottumwa, Iowa, on Monday night eliminated SGV from this week's single elimination tournament that crowns the World Series champion.

San Gabriel Valley was coached by Phil Torres (who also coaches the Crescenta Valley varsity baseball team), and featured seven Falcons: Surrey, Troy Mulcahey, Kyle Murray, Ted Boeke, Troy Prasertsit, Cameron Silva and Joe Torres.
