Crescenta Valley Duo Makes Sure SGV All-Stars End World Series Run on High Note

San Gabriel Valley blanks defending champs in final game of pool play.

The San Gabriel Valley Babe Ruth 16-18 All-Stars won't return to the Southland with any hardware, but they made sure to end their run in the Babe Ruth World Series on a positive note, nonetheless.

In its final game of pool play, SGV shutout defending champion Mobile, Ala., 3-0 at Johnson-O’Brien Stadium in Ephrata Wash., behind the play of two Crescenta Valley stars.

Troy Mulcahey went 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored, while pitcher Elliott Surrey struck out four and gave up five hits for the shutout.
