Discover The Stone Femme Studio Showcasing Hand Cut Rocks
The Stone Femme Studio in Montrose hand cuts and polishes rocks that they mine themselves in remote areas of the Western U.S.
Honolulu Avenue in Montrose is full of nooks and crannies just waiting to be discovered. One of these is the VILLAGE SQUARE, home to salons, spas, and boutiques. Stroll past THEE ELBOW ROOM and when you see the bright yellow "Rock Shop" sign crack a left. At the back of the building is a spectacular mountain vista, the backdrop for THE STONE FEMME STUDIO.
Opening the door is like lifting the lid on a giant box of jewels! Rocks, stones, and crystals glimmer all around just waiting to be picked up and admired. Beautiful, natural colors from the heart of the earth.
There is a vast collection of rocks, minerals, fossils, and stones. Many are mined by JANELLE WILLIAMS and D.J. GERVAIS, two Montrose chicks that make up "The Femme". They go on rock hunting adventures all over the Western U.S. collecting hidden stones which they bring back to the shop to hand cut on a series of diamond saws until they become lustrous gems. No two stones are alike and each one tells its own story.
