Be Prepared: Free Community Emergency Response Team Classes
Crescenta Valley CERT training begins April 6 and teaches how to prepare for and respond to emergency situations.
Fires, earthquakes and a windstorm are just some of the emergencies that have hit the Crescenta Valley.
In an effort to better prepare residents for a variety of serious situations in which citizens may at first be on their own, Crescenta Valley CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) is offering free classes beginning April 6 at the Crescenta/Canada Y.M.C.A (1930 Foothill Blvd. La Cañada).
Attendees will learn how to protect themselves, others and their neighborhood with the following skills, CERT shared:

Manage utilities and put out small fires; treat the three medical killers by opening airways; controlling bleeding and treating for shock; provide basic medical aid; search for and rescue victims safely; organize themselves and spontaneous volunteers to be effective; collect disaster intelligence to support first responder efforts.
The CERT class schedule is below and all five sessions must be completed to receive a course certificate.
