This article is about their amazing HAPPY HOUR, especially on Tuesday and Thursday nights when long time beloved bartender RICK is at the helm. The man knows his stuff and he has a following. It truly is one of those places where you walk in and everyone knows each other. The best part, besides great food and drink, is that you can have some great conversation. The room is properly sound buffered so you get just the right amount of background sound yet can hear what the person across the table from you is saying. No loud, blaring music and screaming people here. It's joyful, peaceful, calm.

The welcoming atmosphere is accompanied by some great food! There are Happy Hour food and drink specials that are tasty, nicely presented, and reasonably priced. SAUSAGE & PEPPERS is one of them. For $7 you get a well seasoned, grilled and sliced sausage with all the fixin's, roasted red pepper, grilled onions, and grainy mustard. Hearty and delicious!

The BBQ CHICKEN SLIDERS are a work of bar food art. Two generous sliders on soft buns with crispy onion rings. Texas in a bite! And the price? Only $8

Recently I observed two women raving about the dish they each ordered. Always curious, I had to ask. It was this, SHRIMP BROCHETTE ($19), from the dinner menu. Oh my goodness is this perfection on a plate! Generous charbroiled shrimp on a bed of fluffy rice, topped with garlic butter sauce, and accompanied by grilled asparagus. You can have dinner in both the cozy dining room and the bar area.

There's plenty more to whet your appetite including $5 well drinks, $7 specialty cocktails, and $5 house wine. OCEAN VIEW BAR AND GRILL is at the entrance to the Montrose Shopping Park at 3826 Ocean View Blvd. Happy Hour is Monday-Friday from 3-7.
