Meet Connor Grayson, Carrying On The Grayson's Tune Town Legacy

GRAYSON'S TUNE TOWN is a legend in Montrose. Established in 1953, it is one of the oldest continually operating establishments in town. Originally opened as a record shop in the space that is now Revelation TOPS, Grayson's was the vision of founder VAL GRAYSON. Before settling in Montrose in the early 50's Val, an accomplished musician, led the VAL GRAYSON ORCHESTRA. They were a swing era band that toured the Midwest. He did this for eighteen fun, musical years. During this time Val met his wife and they decided to settle down. They moved to nearby La Crescenta and picked MONTROSE to begin their new business.

Val and his wife Adeline, back in the day, were one of the original "Mom & POP" businesses of Montrose. Their son KEN GRAYSON was ten years old when his parents opened their shop. Ken would hang around after school which led to a part time job, turned into full time, and eventually owner. If you do the math, Ken has been with Grayson's in Montrose for 65 years!!!

Business was good! In 1985 Val and Adeline bought a then vacant lot on Honolulu Ave. and built a large two story building to house the expanded Grayson's Tune Town. Fast forward to today.

This pic says it all! Ken and his grandson Connor have big plans for Grayson's, and from the looks of things they enjoy doing it! Connor, the Store Manager, is a talented, smart, gracious, and well mannered young man. He was just named to the BELLAMINE COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS Dean's list! He has also been accepted into the much coveted ENTREPRENEUR program at LOYOLA MARYMOUNT UNIVERSITY!

The musical talent and businessman's skills are in Connor's DNA. In addition to managing the store he enjoys playing the latest pop music on the guitar. His goal is to succeed in business and continue to move Grayson's forward. "My grandfather has always said to me 'It's your job to get the business to 100 years". Sounds like he is on the right track!
