Happenings at the June Montrose Shopping Park Association Board Meeting!

There was another FULL HOUSE at the June meeting of THE MONTROSE SHOPPING PARK ASSOCIATION which governs the Montrose BID under the City Of Glendale. After introductions all around JACKIE BARTLOW, Glendale Economic Development Coordinator, and longtime city liaison with the MSPA addressed various concerns. #1 on the list of the MSPA Board is making sure ONLY RETAIL businesses occupy the first floor of the Montrose BID as per city code.

Our GLENDALE POLICE DEPARTMENT was on hand to inform us of safety and police issues in the neighborhood. Some extra patrolling will be happening in the shopping park. Of particular concern to the Montrose merchants are SKATEBOARDERS, which are not allowed in the MSPA. There was talk of warnings and or tickets being issued to violators. Also of concern are certain STREET MUSICIANS showing up without permits. Merchants were instructed to call GPD if they see these things happening.

DREW SUGARS, Director of Communications and Community Relations for GLENDALE COMMUNITY COLLEGE, graciously gave an update on GCC's progress with the former City Bank building. Adequate parking for all remains a priority. We learned that GCC is the #1 College for UPWARD MOBILITY in America!

The mutual working relationship between the MSPA and MONTROSE CHAMBER continues to grow. Here Ex. Director VICTORIA MALONE shares her report. Everyone was happy to hear of the Chamber's plans, already in the works, for OKTOBERFEST, to make it more family friendly.

MSPA Board President ANDRE ORDUBEGIAN ( Copy Network) and V.P. JEANNIE BONE (Casa Cordoba) invest much time in their elected, volunteer positions to make the MSPA the best it can be.
