The retail landscape and food scene is ever changing, especially in Southern California, a place that is known for being continually new and setting trends. We experience this also in the Montrose Shopping Park but on a much smaller scale. With close to 200 businesses in the BID there is bound to be some change, especially in a new year. Montrose is home to many businesses that have had a faithful following for decades. It is also a place of high hopes for those willing to give it their all as a new small business. This year brings newness in creative retail and food.

ROAM.E BOUTIQUE (pronounced roam, the e is silent) started as a mobile clothing business, then spent some time in their storefront in La Canada, and is now moving to Montrose. They have built a following catering to busy women who don't want to sacrifice style or comfort. They specialize in L.A. lifestyle apparel with an emphasis on active, softness, boho, and everyday wear. The assortment is rounded out with accessories, gifts, and children's clothes. Roam.e will be opening in February inside the newly opened KULHAUS at 2271 Honolulu Ave. Follow them on INSTAGRAM for their latest updates.

A new Japanese inspired restaurant is coming to town. TENJIN will be opening in the former Sushi Plus spot, next to HOLIDAY HOUSE INTERIORS. The restaurant interior has been totally revamped and they plan to have their soft opening in the coming weeks. Things seem to be progressing very quickly.

For those that enjoy the popular Mediterranean diet, SHAWERMA KINGDOM is under construction in the 2400 block of Honolulu at the former site of Rest Farmhouse Inspired. Since this photo was taken in August the exterior has a brand new look with the picture windows framed in red.

Good things to look forward to in MONTROSE in the new year!
