CVHS Student Receives $2,000 McDonald's Scholarship

A  senior is among the 104 Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Southern California scholarship recipients. 

Nikolas Gutierrez-Kovner will be awarded with $2,000 for college expenses.

The charity awarded $328,000 in scholarship funds to exceptional high school seniors who reside in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties. 

Gutierrez-Kovner was recognized as "an exceptional student of strong family ties and rich Cuban heritage, Nikolas’ passion is in the creative process of cinema, and hopes to pursue a career in film making. This fall, he will attend the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California. As one of 104 RMHC scholarship recipients, Nikolas was selected based on a number of criteria including grade point average, community involvement, leadership skills, letters of recommendation, and financial need," according to a news release. 

The Southern California chapter of Ronald McDonald House Charities has awarded nearly $4.1 million in scholarship funding to area students. 

“Every year, we continue to be impressed by the caliber of students that apply for one of our four scholarship programs,” said Rob Parker, RMHCSC Chief Executive Officer.

“The young men and women that comprise this year’s scholarship class are not only role models at home but in their communities, and we couldn’t be more honored to support them as they set out to pursue their higher education,” Parker said.
