Rescue Team Members Meet Crash Victim in Hospital

Reserve Deputies Jason Johnson, Cyndy Moyneur and Robert Sheedy were among those highlighted for their actions following the March 25 crash.

Johnson was the one who spotted tire marks in the snow the following morning, looked over the cliff and saw the victim's Ford truck, the release said. He then made his way down the hillside and spotted the victim outside of the truck and laying in the snow. Johnson then administered medical treatment before he was joined by Moyneur, Sheedy and Sheriff's Air 5 paramedics.

When the victim, who was reported as 56-year-old Tracy Granger, met her rescuers at her hospital bedside, the release said "she became teary-eyed and she was extremely happy to meet her heroes face-to-face."

Granger's account of the crash according to the release involves her remembering hitting ice on ACH, where she attempted to correct her steering but knew she was headed for the edge. Her truck rolled over the edge, turning over onto its rooftop and sliding down the hillside, the release said.  

"Believing that her vehicle might catch fire, the victim crawled out of the passenger compartment where she remained until located by Deputy Johnson," the release states, adding that Granger said "if they would not have found me, I would not have survived."

Granger plans on revisiting the location of her crash when she's able, along with members of Montrose Search and Rescue, the release said.
