Shoplifting Suspect At Large After Ramming Cop Cars To Get Away

The suspect allegedly stole liquor from a Vons supermarket before leading police on a chase near the La Crescenta border.

LA CRESCENTA, CA – A supermarket shoplifting suspect led Glendale police on a brief chase Tuesday, in which he rammed patrol cars with a new-model Mustang before fleeing on foot into a neighborhood near the La Crescenta border. He triggered a massive search that was eventually called off, and the suspect remains at large.

Officers were called at 10:01 a.m. to the Vons store at 561 N. Glendale Ave., where the unidentified suspect had taken some liquor, but he had already left, said Tahnee Lightfoot of the Glendale Police Department.

Officers spotted the suspect's car nearby on Foothill Boulevard and boxed it in, but he refused to surrender and instead rammed the patrol vehicles to make his getaway. He abandoned the white Mustang a few blocks away and fled on foot.
