Swimming: Crescenta Valley and LCHS Standout at Masters Meet

Falcons boys relays impress, while La Canada's Katy Campbell takes first in 200- and 500-yard freestyle.

Crescenta Valley's team of Harrison Thai, Andrew De Jong, Young Tae Seo and Louis Wojciechowski won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1 minue, 35.58 seconds, crushing second-place Northwood (1:37.64) to highlight a banner Tuesday for local swimmers at the CIF-Southern Section Masters Meet at the William Woollett Aquatic Center in Irvine.

The Falcons team of Josh Chi, Wojcichowski, Thai and Tae Seo also won the boys 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:10.51.

La Canada junior Katy Campbell won the girls 200 freestyle (1:48.07) and the 500 free (4:46.05). Her seed time of 4:43.04 broke the Master's Meet record of 4:45.95 set by Palm Spring's Lynette Lim last year.

Tae So and Thai finished one-two in the boys 200 individual medley with times of 1:50.35 and 1:52.82, respectively. La Canada's duo of sophomore Brandon Nguyen (1:54.30) and freshman Garrett Chin (1:54.71) finished not far behind in third and fourth place.

Tae So took second place in the boys 100 breastsroke with a time of 56.93 seconds, just barely missing a first place result by .15 seconds.

Thai also placed third in the boys 100 backstroke (53.10) for Crescenta Valley, while San Marino's Daniel To took fifth with a time of 53.94 seconds.

Wojciechowski took second in the boys 200 free (1:40.45). La Salle's Andrew Barmann finisehd eighth in 1:42.90 and also took sixth in the boys 500 free with a time of 4:37.17.

Pasadena's Caroline Lepesant finished fifth in the girls 500 free (5:01.45), and Bulldog sophomore took ninth with a time of 5:02.53.

San Marino freshman Stephanie Samurdo finished in fourth place in the girls 100 butterfly with a time of 57.23 and placed third in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.76).

La Salle's Samantha Torres swam the girls 100 backstroke in 58.47 seconds to take 10th place.

In the boys 100 butterfly, San Marino senior Stephen To finished fifth with a time of 51.33 seconds.

The Falcons boys 200-yard freestyle relay team of Josh Chi, Jacob Ksendov, Rusty Blakey and De Jong placed fifth with a time of 1:28.09.

San Marino's relay team of Daniel To, Nathan Tsai, Stephen To and Joe Costa took eighth in the boys 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:40.40.

The Titans' Everette Phillips, Stephen To, Costa and Tsai finished fourth in the 200 free relay with a time of 3:14.01.
