5 Things for Wednesday

Patch's quick take on the essential things to know, the most interesting things to do and best places to be today.

Here's a handful of things to keep in mind for today.

If you have an event you'd like us to consider for Five Things, be sure to add it to the events calendar. We check it often!

  • Check traffic along your commute route with a live traffic map.
  • Speaking of traffic, if you drive into Simi Valley via Tierra Rejada Road, you might want to consider going a different way this morning. Tuesday night flooding at Madera Road could still be causing problems.
  • The library hosts a story time for young children at 10:30 a.m. and Wii Wednesday for teens and t'weens at 2 p.m.
  • There will be a free African/Latin music concert at the Janss Marketplace in Thousand Oaks from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Masamba Maranga will be performing. The mall is at 255 North Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks.
  • The Ventura County Astronomical Society will host guest speaker Dr. Gary Peterson, who will give a presentation about Uranus, at 7 p.m. Friday at Moorpark College. The event is free and open to the public. Find more information on this Patch Board announcement posted by the organization.
