5 Things: Hot Air Balloons and Bags of Books

Patch's quick take on the essential things to know, the most interesting things to do and best places to be on Friday, July 26.

Here's a handful of things to keep in mind for today.

If you have an event you'd like us to consider for Five Things, be sure to add it to the events calendar. We check it often!
  • The Moorpark City Library will screen Mary Poppins at 2 p.m. today. The screening is free to attend.
  • Also note the Friends of the Library book sale ends this weekend. Sunday is your last chance to pick out a whole bag of books for just $4.
  • The sixth annual Citrus Classic Balloon Festival begins today in Santa Paula. In addition to a colorful display in the sky, there will be arts and crafts vendors, beer and wine tasting, a car show, live music and more. The festival takes place at 18249 E. Telegraph Road, just off Highway 126. Ticket prices and times vary, so be sure to check the event website for details.
  • The Dallas Cowboys are back at the county at their Oxnard training camp at River Ridge Playing Fields, 2101 W. Vineyard Ave. through Aug. 16. Admission is free and tickets are not needed to visit camp, which has a kids zone area, live performances by team mascot Rowdy, the Cowboys on Tour trucks, team merchandise and Hall of Fame trailers. See the visitors' website for various fan events.
  • The Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival continues at Cal Lutheran with performances of Hamlet this weekend and Aug. 2-4. The outdoor shows begin at 8 p.m., but grounds open for picnicking at 6:45 p.m. Admission is $20 for adults and free for those 17 and younger. Visit kingsmenshakespeare.org for more details.
