Apply To Serve On The Area Agency On Aging Advisory Council In Moorpark

The Moorpark City Council is now accepting applications for appointment to the Advisory Council for the Area Agency on Aging to fill two positions. The two-year term commences upon appointment by the City Council and expires June 30, 2023. Applicants must be age 60 or older, reside within the city limits of the City of Moorpark, and registered to vote in Moorpark.

The Area Agency on Aging is responsible for the implementation of the Older Americans Act in Ventura County. Its mandated functions are planning and coordinating senior citizen programs and the administration of all Older Americans Act funds.

The Advisory Council is comprised mainly of senior citizens whose purpose it is to advise and promote the orderly development of senior citizen services. Twenty delegates serve on the Advisory Council. The Council meets six times a year in January, March, May, July, September, and November on the second Wednesday of the month from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and presently continue been held in a virtual setting due to the COVID-19 pandemic. When they resume, in person meetings, are held at the Advisory Council Center at 646 County Square Drive, Suite 100, Ventura, California.
