Narrative:
On 03/23/2021 at about 06:02 a.m., Deputies from the Moorpark Police Station responded to an injury hit and run traffic collision involving a bicyclist versus a motor vehicle in the 200 block of Poindexter Avenue. A vehicle driven by Marco Martinez was traveling east bound on Poindexter Avenue when he struck a male bicyclist who was riding west bound. The bicyclist sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
After the collision, Martinez fled the scene and was later contacted at the Headquarters Sheriff’s Station in Ventura where he was arrested and transported back to the Moorpark Police Station. During initial contact in Ventura and while at the Police Station, Martinez showed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Martinez was subsequently arrested for felony hit and run, driving under the influence of drugs, possession of drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Martinez was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility and has a pending court date.
