Five Things: Movie Screenings, Memories and Hot Air Balloons

Five things you need to know, Tuesday, July 23.

Here are some handy things to know about today.

Take in a free screening of Clifford's Really Big Movie in Thousand Oaks. Muvico is hosting free movies every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 10 a.m. The theater is at 166 W. Hillcrest Drive at The Oaks mall.
Speaking of movies, the Civic Center Stadium in Simi Valley, at 2751 Tapo Canyon Road, is screening G and PG movies on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for $1 at 10 a.m. This week, the theater is screening Dr. Seuss' The Lorax and Big Miracle.

Ventura County Animal Services will hold its ninth annual Dog-Gone, Cat-Atrophic Pet Adoption event Saturday at the Camarillo Animal Shelter, 600 Aviation Drive (in the Camarillo airport area). There will be live entertainment, guest celebrities, search and rescue demonstrations, family fun and, most importantly, half-price adoptions. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Also this weekend, the sixth annual Citrus Classic Balloon Festival takes place in Santa Paula. In addition to a colorful display in the sky, there will be arts and crafts vendors, beer and wine tasting, a car show, live music and more. The festival takes place at 18249 E. Telegraph Road, just off Highway 126. Ticket prices and times vary, so be sure to check the event website for details.
