Junior Lifeguard Class Forming at Simi Valley YMCA

Simi Valley YMCA is offering a training program this summer for youth interested in becoming junior lifeguards.

The Simi Valley Family YMCA is offering a training program this summer for youth interested in becoming junior lifeguards—the first step toward becoming a certified lifeguard.

Classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 2:00 p.m., June 18 through July 30 (no class July 4), for ages 11 through 15. Participants will learn teamwork and leadership skills, rescue techniques, basic first aid and CPR. They'll also learn about the importance of physical fitness. Participants are encouraged to be able to swim at least 300 yards.
