Gerald Stratford, at 72, has come to Internet fame a most unusual way – by growing humongous vegetables. Yes, you read that correctly. Having won innumerable awards for his huge carrots, parsnips, potatoes, squash and onions, among others, Gerald, on the suggestion of a friend and with the help of a nephew, posted a pic of himself with one of his huge veggies on Twitter. That was in 2019.

To date, Gerald has over 205,000 Twitter followers. All that from a profound appreciation of vegetables, along with the patience and willingness to get creative with how to grow them. What Gerald and his family don’t eat, his loving partner, Elizabeth, cans or makes into jams, and the rest goes to a local care facility for the elderly. What a creative way to love your veggies.
