J.M. Coetzee, at 80, is a Professor of Literature, English and Creative Writing at the University of Adelaide and an author of an astonishing list of published works. Writing primarily novels, he is published at the rate of one every three or so years, with his latest book coming out in 2020. That alone is quite a feat, but when you put it next to his awards, well, J.M is no ordinary novelist. His most prestigious award was the Nobel Prize in Literature for the "well-crafted composition, pregnant dialogue and analytical brilliance" of the body of his work, one of the best known being his novel, “Disgrace.” He's won the Booker Prize for Fiction twice.

J.M., awarded many honorary doctorates, is the patron of a research center and cultural hub established in 2011. The J.M. Coetzee Centre for Creative Practice is dedicated to providing "a stimulating environment for emerging and established writers, scholars and musicians."
