Meet An “Amazing” Whose Talent Lands Her Many Plum Roles

Gemma Jones, at 77, had the pleasure of portraying Elton John’s grandmother in the recent film “Rocketman.” I say pleasure, because according to this biographical musical film, Elton’s grandmother was the only one in his family who saw his talent at an early age, encouraged him, and made it possible for him to enter the music scholarship competition which started Elton’s astonishing musical career.

But quite apart from that, Gemma’s own career has been astonishing. Starting with the fact that she has acted in three of the “Harry Potter” films, making her known the world over, along with her many other film, theatre, and TV roles since she started acting at age 20.
