Moorpark Little League to Begin Friday Night Light Series

Moorpark Little League is planning some evening family fun. The league will host a series of three night games to be played under lights this month beginning Friday.

Though called the "Friday Night Light Games," only one will be played on a Friday. The others will take place on Saturdays.

The games, which will begin at 7 p.m., will take place between teams in the major division as follows:

• May 3: Mariners vs. White Sox
• May 4: Red Sox vs. Cardinals
• May 11: Dodgers vs. Cardinals

In addition to the games, special events will be held each night.

On May 3, there will be a parade of teams, recognition of the 11U and 12U 2012 all-star teams and a ceremonial first pitch beginning at 5:30 p.m.

On May 4, the league will hold the first round of a home run derby at 5 p.m. The top finishers will advance to the finals, which will take place on May 11. Derby activities begin at 5 p.m. each day.

The league plays on the fields at Chaparral Middle School, 280 Poindexter Road (note access to the fields is easiest from Park Lane).
