The Moorpark Police Department has issued a statement notifying residents it will stage a DUI checkpoint some time over the holiday weekend.
The statement did not give a specific time and date or location, only that the checkpoint will be within the city.
Following is the police department's statement:
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office / Moorpark Police Department will be hosting a Multi-Agency DUI Checkpoint called “Avoid the 14”. “Avoid the 14” represents the 14 law enforcement agencies in Ventura County who are involved in a grant that the Oxnard Police Department obtained through the Office of Traffic Safety. The grant calls for Multi-Agency cooperation on DUI Checkpoints with the intention of increasing DUI awareness during holidays as well as acting as a deterrent to driving while intoxicated.
This Checkpoint will take place sometime during the July 4th holiday weekend at an undisclosed location in the City of Moorpark. A variety of officers from multiple agencies in the County will be assisting the Moorpark Police Department with this checkpoint.
