A local military support organization will host a golf tournament Monday to raise money to send care packages to service members.
For the Troops' mission is to send care packages to those serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. Packages contain a variety of items like snacks, DVDs, CDs, batteries, personal care items and reading material.
Though some items are donated (see a wish list here), the nonprofit organization makes up the difference and pays shipping expenses.
Money raised from the golf tournament will help cover those costs.
The annual tournament, now in its third year, will begin with a shotgun start at noon Monday and will be followed by a reception and awards dinner.
The cost to play is $175 per golfer or $700 per foursome and includes golf, lunch and dinner. For those who don't play but would like to attend the dinner, the cost is $50.
If you aren't a golfer and would just like to make a contribution to the organization, you can do it online.
