Bitcasa Signs New Lease in Mountain View

The Castro Street startup is growing up.

Bitcasa has increased almost four times—in office space that is.

The Mountain View startup announced Wednesday that it will move from 274 Castro St. to 215 Castro and upgrade its space from 2,200 sq. ft to 8,500 sq. ft.

"2012 has been an amazing year for us," said Tony Gauda, co-founder and CEO of Bitcasa. "We launched our public beta program and announced a $7 million funding round in June 2012, and, since then, the customer demand for our Infinite Drive has been growing at a very rapid rate."

The drive for more physical space has a lot to do with the number of employees they hired, which is four times the number of employees they had at the beginning of 2012, Gauda added.

A month ago, Bitcasa announced the release of its Android and Windows 8/RT apps. The new mobile apps allow instant streaming and safe sharing of music, photos, videos, and documents from the Bitcasa Infinite Drive in the cloud.

Bitcasa was founded in 2011 by former Mastercard and Mozy employees and backed by top-tier investors, including Horizons Ventures, Pelion Venture Partners, Samsung Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz
