Mountain View Seventh Fastest-Growing U.S. City, Says NerdWallet
Population growth, employment growth and income growth were all determining factors.

Mountain View's need for housing, it's real.
The city has ranked number 7 among fastest-growing city in America, according to data compiled by financial literacy and consumer advocacy website NerdWallet.
The website, which announced the list of cities Monday, compared 475 cities based on the following factors:
- Population:Â Population growth in the working-age population (16+) between 2007 and 2011
- Employment:Â Growth in the percentage of employed residents 16+ between 2007 and 2011
- Income:Â Growth in median income for workers between 2007 and 2011
On the population growth factor, Mountain View grew 3.2 percent; Mountain View’s employment rate grew 4.7 percent and Mountain View’s median income grew 11.4 percent.
Topping out the fastest-growing cities list was New Orleans, Louisiana. The only other California city that made NerdWallet’s top 10 list was Pasadena, home to Caltech and the Rose Parade.
