2-Alarm Fire Damages Newark Business
Fire sprinklers in the building helped contain the damage.
NEWARK, CA —A two-alarm fire at a business in Newark caused significant damage. No injuries were reported.
The fire was reported inside a building on Filbert Street shortly before 9 a.m. Friday.
The first crews to arrive were hampered by heavy smoke, and a second alarm was sounded at 9:06.

"Fire sprinklers held the fire to a large piece of machinery," the Alameda County Fire Department said in a social media post, "which was located and fire knocked down by 9:28 AM."
According to the app PulsePoint, the fire was at 37,599 Filbert Street, a retail distribution center.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
