Deadly Crash Injures Newark Driver
One person was killed and two were injured, including a driver from Newark, in a Fremont crash.

FREMONT, CA — One person is dead and two are hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash in Fremont. One of the injured victims is a Newark resident. None of their names have been released.
The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. Friday at Thornton Avenue and the I-880 off ramp.
"Preliminary investigation revealed, one vehicle was traveling westbound Thornton Ave and the second vehicle was northbound on the I-880 off ramp," police said in a report. "A witness told our investigators the vehicle exiting I-880 had a green light to enter the intersection. As the vehicles approached the intersection, the westbound vehicle struck the vehicle exiting the off ramp."

Police say that the driver of the westbound vehicle is a Fremont resident, and the driver of the other vehicle is a Newark resident.
