Free Coronavirus Testing In Newark: Cedar Church

Bay Area Community Health is now offering free pop-up coronavirus testing Monday through Saturday at various locations.

NEWARK, CA — Residents of Newark and surrounding areas will be able to get tested for coronavirus for free at Cedar Church this week. The no-cost testing was made available by Bay Area Community Health.

Testing will be available on Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Pre-registration is recommended but walk-ups will be accepted. Testing will be administered at Cedar Church at 38325 Cedar Blvd in Newark.

All participants were asked to wear a mask and maintain social distancing. Organizers can be reached at 510-770-8040.

BACH also announced that it will soon be receiving COVID-19 vaccines to distribute to primary care patients ages 75 and older. Alameda County residents can receive updates and alerts by visiting this website.

"We have received small quantities of the vaccine and are currently vaccinating our frontline healthcare workers and staff per county and state guidelines," BACH officials wrote in a statement.

Bay Area public health officials are urging residents to get tested and continue social distancing practices as a holiday and winter-fueled surge continues to ravage the region, which is currently under Gov. Gavin Newsom's stay-at-home order.

There were 77,654 positive cases of coronavirus detected in Alameda County as of Wednesday, according to the county's case dashboard.
