Newark death notices: Politician, Greek missionary, tire shop owner

Mark Miller: Miller died May 20 after suffering a stroke two days before. He was 60. Miller graduated from Newark High School before spending most of his political career in Washington D.C. He move back to Newark in 2005.

Josephine Perez: Newark resident Perez died June 12 at home. She was 81.

James Shaw, Jr.: Shaw, of San Leandero, died June 23 at home. He was 93. He worked most of his career in his Newark tire shop. 

Georgia Zakedis: Zakedis died in her Newark home on June 16. She was 87. Zakedis was a native of Greece and returned there throughout her life to start three churches.
