Newark Fireworks Sales Continue Through 4th of July
Only safe and sane fireworks are allowed in Newark.

NEWARK, CA — For some people, it's just not the 4th of July unless they enjoy some sparklers.
Safe and sane fireworks are allowed in Newark, and sales have already begun at pop-up locations. Designated hours for sales are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The City of Newark offers these guidelines:

- The City of Newark has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for illegal fireworks. Possession, use or sale of any illegal fireworks will be strictly enforced.
- Only Safe and Sane Fireworks purchased at permitted booths are legal for use in the City of Newark.
- The use of Safe and Sane Fireworks should be restricted to residential areas only and requires permission of the property owner.
- Fireworks cannot be discharged in City parks. All parks will be completely closed by 7:30 p.m. on July 4th.
- The Police Department will be actively patrolling for illegal activities related to fireworks and will be citing for any violations. Multiple responses by the Police Department to a given location can result in additional administrative fines and abatement costs.
- You must be 18 years of age or older to purchase Safe and Sane Fireworks.
The City’s Fireworks Hotline is 1-866-520-7233. Police have been cracking down on illegal fireworks for weeks. You are asked to report any illegal or unsafe activity, including possession, use or sale of illegal fireworks.
