Newark City Council met their new Assistant City Manager Terrence Grindall on Thursday.
Grindall filled a seat that had been empty since 2010, according to public records.
City Manager John Becker promoted Grindall from the position of Community Development Director for Newark, which he has held since 2006, according to his LinkedIn profile. He will continue to perform the functions of that job while taking on special projects for Becker.
Before he worked for Newark, Grindall was the Manager of Economic Development and Redevelopment for the City of Manteca.
The San Jose State University graduate will be paid $189,000 a year; he will pay for his own health benefits.
