NEWARK, CA — A man who was shot to death in Newark late Friday night was identified by police as 38-year-old James Amos of Newark.
Officers who responded to a report of gunshots in the area of the 7700 block of Wells Avenue just before 11 p.m. on Friday found Amos suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, according to police.
Amos was subsequently declared dead.

Newark police are investigating the fatal shooting as a homicide and said they don't think it was a random act.
