Newark Memorial Earns North Coast Sectional Berth
The girls' basketball team will take on Rancho Cotate Tuesday night in Rohnert Park.

NEWARK, CA — Newark Memorial varsity girls basketball squad won a thriller Friday beating Irvington 46-40 to advance to the North Coast Sectional tournament.
Both teams were tied at 27 each at the end of the third quarter however, the Newark Cougars outscored Irvington 19-13 in the final stanza to pull off the win.
Newark Memorial will face the powerful Rancho Cotate varsity girls basketball team of Rohnert Park who continued their Cinderalla season knocking off Piner of Santa Rosa at Analey High School Friday to advance to the North Coast Sectional tournament.

Rancho Cotate will be hosting Newark Memorial in their den at the Rohnert Park campus at 7pm Tuesday Feb 12th.
The Rancho Cotate Lady Cougars took a commanding lead going into the second half against Piner High 29-14 and then stretching the margin to 46-25 at the end of the third quarter. Rancho Cotate coach Mario Newton reached into his deeply talented bench in the second half giving the starters a break and then coasting to 59-37 victory.

Newark Memorial women finished league play with a 6-8-0 record a 14-12-0 overall record.
The Rancho Cotate girls have had an incredible run with an undefeated 10-0-0 league season, a first in 39 years, and an overall record of 24-4-0.
Rancho Cotate coach Newton takes advantage of fresh players rotating players into the game on a regular basis along with a tough defense that takes advange of steals and fast breaks.
The Rancho Cotate squad is seeded #6 in the NCS tournament.
