Newark Police Make Arrests For Receiving Stolen Property, More

Several people were arrested on outstanding warrants, although some were let go because of pandemic Judicial Council orders.

NEWARK, CA — Newark Police report making 12 arrests Feb. 22 through the 27th. The majority of the arrests were for outstanding warrants. However, two Newark residents were arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen property. Public drunkenness was also an issue.

1:01 AM: During a traffic enforcement stop in the area of Cedar Blvd and Cedar Ct, Officer Torres made contact and arrested a 25-year old female out of San Francisco for an outstanding warrant. She was issued a new court date and released.

2:31 PM: Officer Kapu made contact and arrested a 42-year old male out of Hayward in the 35000 block of Orleans Dr for a warrant. He was booked at Fremont Jail.

12:37 PM: Officer Palacio made contact and arrested a 48-year old male transient in the 6000 block of Jarvis Ave for an active felony warrant. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.

5:50 PM: Officer Losier was responded to a report of an individual causing a disturbance in the 6000 block of Thornton Ave. Officers made contact and arrested a 38-year old male transient for being too inebriated to care for himself or others. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.

1:36 AM: Officers made contact and arrested a 33-year old female out of Manteca in the area of Stevenson Blvd and Balentine Dr. for an outside warrant. She was cited and released.

11:54 PM: Officer Swadener investigated a report of suspicious activity described as possible trespassing in the area of Civic Terrace Ave and St Edwards St. Upon arrival, Officer Swadener made contact and arrested a 29-year old male transient for five outstanding warrants. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.

7:26 PM: Officer Swadener accepted a citizen’s arrest of a 37-year old female out of San Jose for shoplifting in the 200 block of Newpark Mall Rd. She was cited and released.

Saturday, February 27, 2021

3:07 AM: Officers investigated a report of suspicious activity described as loitering in the 6000 block of Joaquin Murrieta Ave. Upon arrival officers made contact and arrested a 23-year old female out of Newark for an outstanding warrant, receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers also made contact and arrested a 45-year old male out of Newark for receiving stolen property. Both were cited and released.

11:26 PM: Officer Slavazza located a vehicle parked in the middle of Cedar Blvd and Cedar Ct blocking all lanes of traffic. Officer Slavazza made contact and arrested a 34-year old male out of Fremont for an outstanding warrant. He was booked at Fremont Jail. Officer Slavazza also made contact and arrested a 24-year old male out of Fremont and a 21-year old male for being too inebriated to care for themselves or others. Both were booked at Santa Rita Jail.
