Newark School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Newark is August 24. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Newark Unified School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

November

• 11/9: Elementary Minimum Day (Parent/Teacher Conferences)
• 11/10: No School (Veterans Day)
• 11/13 - 11/16: Elementary Minimum Days (Parent/Teacher Conferences)
• 11/20 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving)

December

• 12/22 - 1/5: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1 - 1/5: No School (Winter Break)
• 1/15: No School (MLK Day)
• 1/22: No School for Students (Staff Development, Teacher Work Day)

February

• 2/12: No School (Lincoln's Birthday)
• 2/19: No School (Presidents Day)

March

• 3/12: No School for Students (Staff Development, Teacher Work Day)
• 3/30 - 4/6: No School (Spring Break)

April

• 4/2 - 4/6: No School (Spring Break)

May

• 5/28: No School (Memorial Day)

• 6/13: Last Day of School
