Obituary: Betty Charlotte Gentry

Betty Charlotte Gentry, a longtime resident of Fremont, passed away at her home on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at the age of 87.  

Born Aug. 17, 1924 in San Francisco to her parents, Gustav L. Asp and Vivian L. Asp.

A lover of dance from the time she was born until her last breath, she dedicated her life to bringing the joy of dance to young and old…teaching her last class at the age of 86 for the cities of Fremont and Newark.  

All students who read this obituary notice know that Mrs. Gentry, as her students called her, loved each and everyone of you.

She is now at eternal peace, joining her deceased husband, Jack E. Gentry, to whom she was married for 54 years.  

She is survived by her daughter Rita, sons Lee and Mark, daughter-in-laws, Ruth and Karla Gentry; grandchildren Jolie, Heidi, Antonia, Paulina, Jake, Gina, Michael, Joey, Christopher and Melissa; great-Grandchildren Luna, Blake and Braydon and many nieces and nephews, as well as her sister Ardith Gotthardt (Fred) of Fremont.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd. in Fremont, at 1:00 p.m.
