Tree Issues: How To Report Them In Newark
Broken branches? Dead tree? Here's the phone number and email address to get help from the CIty of Newark.

NEWARK, CA — Are you having issues with a tree in your yard? Dead or broken limbs? It's tearing up your sidewalk? Or maybe you don't have a tree where one should be thriving. The City of Newark wants to hear from you.
The City works is responsible for trees in parks, within the public right-of-way and at public facilities.
Most city street trees are scheduled for routine pruning every 8 years. The City contracts to have approximately 2000 trees pruned each year. However, if a tree is dead, dying or determined to be undesirable, it can be trimmed or removed upon request from residents.

An undesirable street tree is one that causes excessive sidewalk damage or grows too tall for its location, usually under power lines. All trees that are removed are replaced by an appropriate species from a list of approved trees. If the tree cannot be replaced in the same location, a tree will be planted elsewhere in the city.
