Walmart Pays Out Bonuses To California Workers

This is the third bonus paid to workers who were promised extra compensation for working during coronavirus restrictions.

CALIFORNIA —Walmart stores stayed open throughout the coronavirus pandemic shelter-in-place orders, an essential business that provided groceries and other necessities.

Walmart sweetened the compensation deal for workers by offering cash bonuses to continue working or to join the company. On Thursday, workers are receiving their third bonus.

Full-time hourly associates and drivers are receiving $300, $150 goes to part-time hourly and temporary associates, and $400 to assistant managers. The total across California: $21.6 million.

Company-wide, Walmart invested nearly $1 billion in two special cash bonuses, an early quarterly bonus payout and other initiatives.

To receive Thursday's bonus, associates had to be employed by the company as of June 5.
