The injured boater ran aground near the Dumbarton Bridge.

NEWARK, CA - A Coast Guard aircrew on a training mission ended up launching a real rescue mission Thursday evening when it received a report of an injured boater. The man was aboard a grounded boat south of the Dumbarton Bridge.
The call came in around 7 p.m. from the CHP.
A Coast Guard rescue swimmer was lowered down to the boat to assist the injured boater. The boater decided to stay aboard his craft until high tide so he could take it to a local marina.
