$3,500 Awarded to Blind Rehabilitation Center of VA Hospital

Newport Harbor Elks Lodge Awards $3,500 Grant check to Blind Rehabilitation Center of Long Beach VA Hospital

Veterans Chairperson Angela Anderson and Veterans Co-Chairman RJ Green from Newport Harbor Elks Lodge #1767, proudly presented a check for $3,500 to the Blind Rehabilitation Center (BRC) at the Long Beach VA Hospital. The funds were from a Beacon Grant awarded to the lodge by Elks National Foundation. The BRC can use the funds as they see fit; however, Elizabeth Greco, Coordinator of BRC indicated they have a real need in that unit’s physical therapy/activity area for games developed specifically for the physically challenged and a much-needed therapeutic chair. With social distancing in place and the lack of visitors and outside stimulus due to COVID-19, the therapy/activity area is more than ever a huge help to the mental and physical needs of the sight-challenged veterans.
