After Two Months of Daily Price Drops, Gas Increases by a Penny

The weakening dollar could impact oil and gas prices.

Gasoline prices dropped in L.A. and Orange County for the 62nd time in 64 days, but rose again on Saturday.

Prices per gallon now average $3.76 in Orange County, a low not seen since February and March of this year.

After seeing consistent declines over the past two months, prices in Orange and Los Angeles counties saw a 1-cent increase Saturday.

Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California said price decreases slowed in the past week as a result, in part, of a weakening dollar.

"Oil futures are traded in U.S. dollars, which means that when the dollar weakens, investors, including those holding foreign currencies, get comparatively more oil for their money," Spring said. "This makes crude oil a more attractive investment, which pressures prices upward."
