CDM Strikes Goal-d with Megan Chief's Record Score

The Sea Kings midfielder surpassed a 2011 school record in a game played Jan. 3 vs. Fountain Valley.

CORONA DEL MAR, CA —Corona Del Mar High School’s girl’s soccer team is celebrating a record 18 goals scored by one player in January 2019. Midfielder Megan Chief set the Corona del Mar High girls’ soccer single-season record in January, aiding the Sea Kings to win 2-1 vs. Fountain Valley in a Sunset Conference crossover match.

According to coach Bryan Middleton, in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, player Ally Brahshad the previous record with 17 goals in 2011.

In the Thursday match, Chief scored on an assist from Avery Doherty in the first half of the Fountain Valley match. The Sea King’s second-half penalty kick by Natalie Hueston, drawn by Mia Ferrentino, was the go-ahead goal.

CDM was scheduled to play Thursday, Jan. 10 in Huntington Beach in a home conference game vs. Edison High School.

The lady Sea Kings will play at home vs. Los Alamitos Griffins on Jan. 15.
