A Conversation With Tamara...
Tamara is the new president of the NMFT (Newport-Mesa Federation of Teachers) and she is going to be great!
Tamara Fairbanks has been in education for more than 20 years and has taught music at Newport-Mesa Unified School District schools for 16 years. Her last assignment was at Mariners Elementary and she recently was elected the president of the Newport-Mesa Federation of Teachers (NMFT Local 1794).
In this video she describes what it is like being an African-American in Orange County, how she is treated by society and how she deals with racism. She also speaks about the recent retirement announcement of the superintendent, what she wants from the next superintendent and her vision for the future of NMFT.
