Strong rip currents and elevated surf are expected Sunday evening through Tuesday morning in Orange County coastal areas, the National Weather Service advised Saturday afternoon.
A northwest swell may bring 4 to 6 foot surf with locally higher sets on west-facing beaches, with the highest surf expected north of Newport Beach, according to a beach hazards statement issued Dec. 21.
"Strong rip currents and elevated surf will create dangerous swimming conditions . . . especially for inexperienced swimmers," the Weather Service advised.
