Former Sen. John Moorlach Tests Positive For Coronavirus
On Wednesday, Orange County Supervisor hopeful candidate John Moorlach announced that both he and his wife are positive for coronavirus.
COSTA MESA, CA— Former State Senator John Moorlach, 65—currently running for the Orange County Board of Supervisors open seat—has tested positive for coronavirus, he announced Wednesday. His wife, Trina, has also tested positive, he says.
Moorlach admitted to attending campaign events the week before he tested positive, though he says he has observed social distancing, worn masks. He began "to feel under the weather" one week ago. He told the Daily Pilot. By Sunday, he felt "slightly feverish," and he and his wife got tested.
Both he and his wife tested positive within minutes, he reports.

They are currently self-isolating at their home in Costa Mesa. The pair have notified their close-contacts and are determined to get well as soon as possible. It is, after all, two weeks before the special election to fill the vacant seat left behind by Michelle Steel.
"I'm trying to rest as much as I can, but I'm still working on trying to keep up with emails and other requests," he told the Pilot. He is also declining any speaking engagements for the time being.

When asked, he said that though he currently is in the proper group to be vaccinated, per the state, he has declined to be vaccinated as of yet. Still, vaccinations will be at the forefront of his agenda if elected to the Orange County Board of Supervisors.
Recently, he stated that the "fast and fair distribution of COVID vaccines has turned into a tragic combination of errors, mismanagement and changing guidelines.
"One of my biggest priorities as Supervisor will be focusing inefficient and effective vaccine distribution to those who need it so that our communities can safely get back to work and back to school," he wrote in a tweet on Feb. 9.
Orange County has been beset, like so many other communities, by the overwhelming impact of the COVID 19 pandemic. This impact has taken on many damaging forms besides just the immediate threat to our community health. 1/5
