Las Vegas Shooting: Disneyland Resort Cast Member Killed, Another Injured

ANAHEIM, CA — A 34-year-old Riverside woman who worked as a cast member at Disney's California Adventure theme park was one of the 59 victims from Sunday's mass shooting at the Route 91 Country Music Concert. Another Disneyland cast member, Jessica Milam, was one of over 500 people injured in the massive shooting attack.

Carrie Barnette had recently purchased a home in Riverside, and was an over 10-year member of Disneyland theme park's culinary team where she worked at Flo's V8 Cafe, and previously at the Pacific Wharf restaurant according to Walt Disney Co. Chairman and CEO Robert Iger.

"Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by the tragic events in Las Vegas – the victims of violence, the witnesses, and the friends and families mourning loved ones," Iger said. "We are especially heartbroken over the loss of one of our own to this unconscionable and senseless act. Carrie Barnette had been a member of the Disney California Adventure culinary team for ten years and was beloved by her friends and colleagues."

Barnette was at the concert with friends when gunfire rang out on the last night of the three day outdoor country concert.

"Our thoughts are with her family, along with our support, during this incredibly difficult time. Another valued Disney cast member, Jessica Milam, was also seriously injured and we are praying for her recovery," Iger said.

Michael Colglazier, President of Disneyland Resort also shared his thoughts on Barnette's passing.

“We mourn the loss of our Cast Member, Carrie Barnette, and we offer our most heartfelt condolences to her family, fellow Cast Members, friends and loved ones as well as all who were affected by this senseless act.”

Cast Member Jessica Milam is recovering post surgery, according to Facebook posts by friends. A Gofundme account has been established for her recovery.

Carrie Barnette's family has established a GoFundMe account for her mother and sister.
