Men Arrested After Bentley Pursuit

Two men were arrested over the weekend after leading Newport Beach police on a pursuit and crashing their Bentley into another car, the Daily Pilot reported.

At about 8:16 p.m. Sunday, police pulled over Don William Jackson, 37, of Whittier, and passenger Gary Edward Sarria, 39, of Huntington Beach for a routine traffic stop at Newport Boulevard and 20th Street, the newspaper reported. Police told the Daily Pilot Jackson sped off and got onto the 55 Freeway. Newport Beach police called off the pursuit because Jackson was allegedly driving recklessly.

Minutes after the pursuit was called off,  the Bentley ending up crashing into a car near the 55 and Edinger Avenue in Tustin.

Sarria was taken into custody at the scene on suspicion of obstructing a police officer, while Jackson fled on foot but was taken into custody on suspicion of evading an officer with disregard to public safety shortly after, according to the newspaper.
