Newport Beach Home Served Street Gang Related Federal Warrants

An Orange County street gang was the subject of 12 state and federal warrants served early Wednesday morning.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA —Early Wednesday morning, neighborhoods in Newport Beach, Anaheim, Fullerton, and Santa Ana were awoken by the Orange County Violent Gang Task Force. They served twelve federal and state warrants. The warrants are just part of an ongoing FBI investigation targeting an Orange County-based street gang, the FBI's Los Angeles, field office spokesperson.

Along with the warrants, officers placed suspects under arrest.

They served one federal arrest warrant, one state arrest warrant, and conducted probation compliance checks as part of an investigation targeting an Orange County-based street gang, FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller.

"Several federal and local tactical teams were utilized during the service of the warrants," Eimiller wrote in a statement. "The affidavits supporting the search warrants have been sealed by a federal judge."

In addition to the FBI and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, the task force was also assisted by the Santa Ana, Anaheim, Fullerton, Newport Beach police departments, the IRS Criminal Investigation Department, the Criminal Investigation Task Force, and the Orange County Probation Office.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation participated in the continuing investigation.

The U.S. Attorney's Office is prosecuting the federal case, and the Orange County District Attorney's Office is prosecuting the state charges.
